A Day in Whistler

Just over the weekend, my Husband surprised me with a day-trip date to Whistler… I had never been before. Surprisingly, living in BC for the past 5 years (this august…so crazy!!!!)  I hadn’t been to one of the most popular sight seeing/adventure/ski mountains in British Columbia. Not to mention the most beautiful places to VISIT. Whistler does feel very secluded, I definitely would get cabin fever living up there…But aside from that, Giuliano does pretty good when it comes to surprises, thats of course if I don’t already figure it out myself.

Monday morning, we packed up to leave, and stepped outside to a “forecasty” sky, as my mom would say… lol. **Overcast** The sky looked so grey and blah. As we walked to the car we realized it was just a smokey sky. There has been so many forest fires in Pemberton near Whistler and the ashes have carried on to Vancouver. More than 200km…leaving Maple Ridge so hazy and smokey. We haven’t had rain for only a week or so, and its been in the 80’s-90’s since MAY. So Giuliano and I hopped in the car and drove 2 hours to Whistler, pulled up, parked, and walked around Whistler Village. We ate lunch at this place called El Furniture Warehouse. Sounds strange, but everything on the summer menu was $4.95. And if any of you know my husband, He was all over that!! [We always go for wings on Thursday nights at the Jolly Coachman in Pitt Meadows because there wings are 10 cents each. We leave spending 10 including our tip. lol] So this El Furniture Warehouse was so awesome, We had a pulled pork sandwich, soft tacos, a burger and fries, and wings! All under $25. We loved it, felt like we were in the US for lunch, lol. We sat on the patio looking out towards the Village sippin’ on some lemon water. Days like this spent with the man I love, are the best. After lunch, we walked over to the adventure park and of course he went on a ride called the “westcoaster”. He’s an adrenaline junkie and can’t live without it.  Anything that says “skydiving, bungee jumping, cliff jumping, motorcycle, fast, speed, or rush, life or death” He’s all in, and it absolutely freaks me out. I am praying we have a baby girl first so it softens him up a little bit! lol. We sat at the Olympic plaza for a couple of hours and he had a snooze in the park, and I sipped on some coffee, while fiddling with my new Canon Rebel XSI!

Later on we met up with a friend, Ryan. He was in our Bridal party and a good friend of my husbands. They recently just moved up to Whistler themselves, so we wanted to see what it was all about. After catching up with Ryan for a couple of hours we had to have dessert at this place called Cows. BEST ice cream! I highly recommend if your in Whistler and are Hungry, eat at El Furniture Warehouse, and have dessert at Cows. Such rich flavours and yummy waffle cones. Whenever we go on trips like this I always wonder what we would be doing different if we had a baby of our own with us….And then I realize I need to take advantage of this time I have with my husband alone as much as possible!  I love him so much, and I just can’t wait to expand our family!

This morning I get a facetime call from my sister Jaime, and the first thing I see when the screen loads is 2 of the cutest babies sitting on a couch together starring at the screen.. Instantly I say “Why do you do this to me!!!” and then I hear their mommies and my sister all laughing because they know how much I love babies, and how much I wish I was in Arizona with them! One day! Overall, I’m so thankful of my strong, Godly husband that treats me to special trips like this. He works so hard, and knows I’m home all day and need to get out the house. I love you babe! I couldn’t ask for a better husband!
